| Effects of Polyphenols on E-coli Bacteria
Challenge: | Health | Category: | Intermediate | Region: | | City: | , | School: | | Abstract: | Green tea polyphenols are known for their antineoplastic (anti-cancer), cardiovascular (oxidative stress) and antioxidant properties. Polyphenols were extracted by two liquid to liquid extractions followed by a solvent removal and a desiccation of the final product. The polyphenols were then tested on cultured E-coli samples to determine if they inhibit, or potentially culture, their growth. The results suggest that polyphenols inhibit the growth of bacteria. |
