Hello, my name is Teal Kreuger, I’m fifteen years old and in grade ten. I live in Baker Lake, Nunavut with my parents, sister, a fish, and our two cats. Baker Lake has been my home for fourteen years. An isolated arctic community does limit the activities that I can partake in, but I try to participate in the ones that are available. I love the north and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. I enjoy school and I’m currently the president of the student representative council. I play hockey, soccer, and badminton for my community team, the Baker Lake Blizzard, and I work part-time at the local grocery store. I also enjoy playing instruments, reading political subjects and poetry, art, music, and skateboarding during the summer. This is the third year I’ve been privileged enough to represent the Kivalliq region at the national fair; I enjoyed the experience so much the first time that I worked hard so that I could return again. |
| Teal Kreuger Solving the Stink Pipe Problem--Part 2
Division: | Sciences de la santé / Aucun | Catégorie: | Intermédiaire | Région: | Kivalliq | Ville: | Baker Lake, NU | École: | Jonah Amitnaaq S.S. | Sommaire: | This project is an innovative solution to the northern problem of frozen stink pipes. I developed a thermoelectric prototype, which I installed into my home. After calibration, the prototype kept the sewage tank vent clear and my home free of sewage gas. My innovation improves the air quality of my home and has practical and commercial potential for buildings in Nunavut and other northern locales. |
