Biography
My name is Riley Farrell and I am a 15 year old, Grade 9 French Immersion Honour Student at Pearce Junior High. I am involved in School Choir, Techsploration, Positive Peer Group, and Drama. I play Hockey, Soccer, Volleyball and I am on the Cheerleading Team. I also take private voice lessons and I have participated in many Music Festivals. I love to hang out with my friends and listen to all types of music. I would describe myself as kind, caring and funny. My favorite subjects in school are Science and Math. I love learning new things I plan on becoming an Engineer when I graduate. I have also raised approximately $5000 for The Janeway Children's Hospital with The Riley Farrell Project. I am really excited to be participating in the Canada Wide Science Fair and making new friends.

Abstract:The purpose of my project was to investigate how tempering a steel bolt can make the steel bolt less brittle and tougher. This has been completed through a series of cooling methods of steel bolts that have been heated at a very high temperature. The bolt testing was done using a tensile tester.
