Biography
My name is Isabel and I am very passionate about science. I'm in grade 8 at Vanier Catholic Secondary School. I was born in the Philippines, but my family moved to Whitehorse when I was ten. I enjoy reading and playing different sports such as volleyball, soccer and basketball. In the past, I have competed in the national championships for soccer and this is my second time going to CWSF. My project was inspired by a teacher at school when he stated that HRVs do not work in the Yukon. The best advice I can give is to conduct an experiment that benefits not only yourself, but also other people. There are endless possibilities to what you could become if you take a leap of faith. Just try your best and have fun learning about the wonders of the world of science!

Heat Recovery Ventilators: Alternative Benefits
Challenge:Discovery
Category:Junior
Region:Yukon Stikine
City:Whitehorse, YT
School:Vanier Catholic Secondary
Abstract:An HRV is a ventilation solution in one box. Most people tend to focus more on saving heat; sometimes they forget the other main function of the machine, providing fresh air for a better living atmosphere. The experiment conducted was a comparison between an environment where there is no provision of fresh air and a setting where there is a constant supply.
