My name is Evan Krebs I live in Hensall Ont. Some of my Hobbies include wood working, welding, biking, competition plowing, dirt biking and camping. Sports I play are soccer track and field and skiing. Post-secondary I plan to apprentice in a trade or go to university in an ag related course. Careers I am thinking about pursuing are farming cash crop, potato, tobacco, sugar beet or mixed as well as opening a welding shop or working as a welder. The inspiration for my project came partly from my ag background as well as my interest in innovating agriculture and ethanol practices. If I was to investigate father into this project, it would be in developing a mechanical harvesting and storage systems, for sweet potatoes. Advice I would give to other students thinking about doing a project would be to choose a field they are interested in, gather background information, then do your project on a topic that could benefit the field your projects is about. Do something that hasn't been done before, don't do a project that you have seen before. Make sure that it is applicable to the real world. |
| Evan Krebs Ethanol - The Next Generation
Challenge: | Energy | Category: | Junior | Region: | Avon Maitland-Huron Perth | City: | Hensall, ON | School: | St. Boniface | Abstract: | For this project I compared alternative ethanol feed stocks (sweet potatoes and sugar beets) with the traditional feedstock corn. This comparison was from several aspects, such as: cost of production, net energy gain, yield per acre, labor involved, usable byproducts, etc. I found, through my research and comparisons, that corn remains to be the optimal feed stock for ethanol production. |
