| Hello, world! My name is Anna Tymofyeyeva. I am currently a grade 10 student attending Thornhill Secondary School, and hopefully on my way to graduation. I am a science enthusiast, and I particularly love physics and biology. I am an avid watcher of Grey’s Anatomy, which has gotten me interested in the health sciences (despite its focus on dramatic storylines). I was inspired to create this project by an article I read in an issue of New Scientist magazine. I was fascinated by the theoretical conclusion that the magazine proposed in response to an experiment. I wanted to do more research, and eventually, I realized that the article’s and my theories may have more basis and could be more important than I first thought. Going forward, I would love to consult with experts in the field of schizophrenia and neuroscience, and possibly conduct trials for the treatment I proposed in my project. If I had to give advice to someone looking to create a project, I would say to do it about something you are truly interested in. This may sound obvious, but without interest, giving up becomes much more common. Best of luck future finalists! |

Analysis of Atypical Sensory Adaptation in Schizophrenia

This categorization limits its treatment options, so those diagnosed as schizophrenic lead difficult lives. This study examines a phenomenon called sensory adaptation in schizophrenia. In a nutshell, using different brain scans, this study shows that schizophrenic patients are unable to adapt to certain senses, which is crucial information for determining proper treatment for them. |
