Jaad - My name is Jaad Van der Wee; I was born and raised in Montreal. I am a 13 year-old honor student at Royal West Academy. During my free time, I enjoy playing the guitar and sports such as baseball, basketball, swimming, and skiing. During the summer, I umpire as a job for my city league. At school, my favourite subject is math, closely followed by science. In the future I plan on completing university in engineering or perhaps another field of sciences. However, my partner Sean and I chose a science fair project that is environmentally-oriented and concentrates on saving freshwater by reusing water generated from domestic activities. This water is otherwise known as Greywater. This project was really exciting for me and truly opened my eyes to this particular field of sciences. The results we came away with were surprising. Also, seeing this experiment through to the end taught me the true rigor of the scientific method. It was a great experience. To any others participating in science fair, I highly recommend doing something interesting and applicable in today’s society. I encourage everyone to go into sciences, but most of all, to pursue their dreams.
Sean - Hello my name is Sean Giacobbe. I was born and raised in Montreal, I am a 13 year-old honor student at Royal West Academy. In my free time I enjoys playing guitar, bass guitar and listening to my favourite music. I also play many different sports such as soccer, football and compete with my local swim team. At school, my favourite subject is science closely followed by english. For my future I plan on studying biology, chemistry or possibly engineering. However, our science fair project is environmentally-oriented and concentrates on saving freshwater by reusing water generated from domestic activities. Everyone should do a science project once in their life as it truly gives an idea about what science is like and is an experience that will never be forgotten. For anyone planning on doing a science fair project the one thing to remember is to find an idea that could truly help solve a problem found in everyday life. And finally to anyone choosing a career path in science always choose something that you love to do so that you will enjoy going to work every morning and cherish each day.
