My name is Taneille Johnson, I was born in Calgary, Alberta and one of my major hobbies/ sports is speedskating. Last winter I attended the Canadian Long Track Speedskating Championships in Winnipeg after winning the Provincial BC Long Track Championships title in Dawson Creek. I am currently 14 years old and plan on attending the University of Strathclyde in Scotland in order to study for an undergraduate masters degree in Forensic and Analytical Chemistry. I play the clarinet and piano, recently returning from a concert band tour in New York City. In Grade 7 I won an award for academic achievement in sciences and math. I have a German Shepard named Keida, and a cat named Diago. I enjoy taking walks with Keida along the Peace River hills, and in the country around my home. During the summer I enjoy river and lake kayaking, along with running in the local Track and Field Club. |

Division: | Biotechnology / None | Category: | Intermediate | Region: | Northern British Columbia | City: | Fort St John , BC | School: | Bert Bowes Jr Secondary | Abstract: | This project studied the potential effectiveness of inserting the telomerase enzyme into somatic cells via molecular cloning procedures. Molecular Cloning procedures were analyzed and a virus vector solution was chosen to transfect the somatic cells with the telomerase enzyme. Somatic Cell Nuclear Tranfer processes were analyzed and concluded that the telomerase enzyme should be able to be injected into somatic cells and cloned efficiently. |
