Biographie
My name is Griffin Frederickson. I am in Grade 8 at Dawson Creek Secondary – Central Campus. At school I enjoy Math, Science, Wood Shop and Gym. In my spare time I like to travel, invent and go hiking. Last summer I was thrilled to be able to snorkel at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I am a Royal Canadian Air Cadet from the 353 Mile Zero Squadron. I have attended our Regional Science Fairs for 5 years and I am very excited to be a part of the CWSF this year. I hope my project will help to raise awareness about the dangers of texting while driving. It was interesting to observe people’s reaction time while driving on a simulator. In the future I would like to have my own well-stocked science lab to work in and try out my inventions. I would also like to work towards a career in technology. When you are thinking of inventing or doing a science project, choose a topic that interests you, follow the scientific method and ask lots of questions.

Sommaire:Texting while driving a vehicle is the number one killer on highways. In my experiment, I measured the distance travelled on a driving simulator while participants were undistracted and distracted by texting. Looking down at a cell phone for 1 second at 50 km/h is like driving 55 m blindfolded. I hope to make more people aware of the serious dangers of distracted driving.
