Biography
I am a Grade 7 student from Calgary. I first became interested in Science Fair in Grade 5 when I did a project on the human eye. This year, I wanted to do a project that affected my life and eating organic or non-organic is a decision people make every day. If I could give advice to someone thinking about a project for science fair it would be to pick a topic you are really passionate about. If you choose a topic you are interested in, you will always do well. Outside of school, my favorite activities include Greek dancing, swimming and training to become a lifeguard. I also really enjoy debating and was even able to start a school debate team for next year. When I get older, I want to go to university, get a degree in math or another science and then pursue a Master’s degree. I plan to help pay for university by working as a lifeguard.

Organic: Is It Better?
Challenge:Environment

City:Calgary, AB
School:St. Gregory School
Abstract:This project examined the impact of pesticides on living organisms by testing whether wax worms completely immersed in an organic habitat would develop differently than wax worms immersed in a non-organic environment. The experiment results suggest that pesticides had a negative effect on these living organisms and future research on these pesticides and their impact on humans would be useful.
