Biography
My name is Sameer Batla, I am twelve years old and in seventh grade at Lincoln Middle School in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I play guitar and sing in school choir and divisional choir. I also love acting, I have been a cast member in several musicals. This year I played the role of "King Julien" in my school musical; "Madagascar Jr". One of the biggest awards I won at school was the "Wall of Fame" award for academics, special achievements, arts and athletics. I love swimming, playing basketball, soccer and pool. My favourite subjects are science and math, I compete in monthly math competitions. When I'm older I'd like to become a doctor or work for NASA. I have been participating in the Science Fair ever since I was in grade two. In grade five and six my science fair projects were on "Hydropower" and "Wind Power" so this year I wanted to learn about "Solar Power". I would like to explore the latest advancements in solar energy. I recommend everyone to participate in the science fair and to remember that it does not matter what your ranking is, the thing that matters most is that you learned something new.

Abstract:The sun produces enormous amounts of energy but only a tiny portion of this reaches earth, yet it provides enough energy to power our earth for decades. I wanted to learn about solar energy and how it can help people in everyday life. Why is it the future of energy, and is it possible that in the future we can rely solely on solar energy?
