Abstract:An apparatus named URNS “ultrasonic ranging navigation system” uses an array of ten head mounted sensors that scans a 180-degree arc and can measure distances up to 3 meters. This information is relayed to the person using a stereo tone with time delays to simulate natural human echolocation abilities. This provides vision impaired individuals or professions the ability to better navigate their surroundings.
