Benjamin - Hi, my name is Benjamin Jud, I am from Innisfail Alberta and I go to Innisfail Jr. Sr. High School. This year is my third time going to CWSF. I participate in numerous sports including Cross Country Running, Basketball, Badminton, Skiing, Soccer, and Track and Field. I am also a level 2 Hockey Alberta Official. Besides sports, I spend my free time and weekends by working part time or relaxing (Which doesn't happen to often). I speak fluent German and love to travel. My project partner and I are both caffeine lovers, and thus decided to investigate the effects of caffeine in a classroom setting. We testing 48 people, which were separated into a decaf, control and a group that ingested 100 mg of caffeine. Subjects where then given a cognitive ability and reaction time test. We discovered that between groups there was a minimal difference in test score (0.27% between control group and caffeine group), and where able to conclude that caffeine has minimal effect on test score, and a larger but still insignificant effect on reaction score. | Kirk - I am a grade 11 student looking to achieve high academic success and move into the field of Computer Engineering. This will be my third time attending the Canada Wide Science Fair. Our project this year centres around the effect caffeine has on cognitive ability and reaction time in a testing environment. |
