My name is Esther Boersma and I am enrolled in the French Immersion Program at Immaculate Conception School in Formosa, Ontario. I live on a farm and have three older, very annoying, brothers :) My mom and I have been in several plays such as Annie, Oliver Twist and the Sound of Music. I enjoy reading and writing- one of my pieces was recently published by the Poetry Institution of Canada. I was a member of the Toastmasters Club and placed third in the Southwestern Ontario Public Speaking Competition. I play the piano, clarinet and guitar. I enjoy writing songs, playing with my dog, Abby, and many different church activities. I find psychology extremely interesting, which is how I chose the topic for my science fair- the Birth Order Connection. My inspiration is my oldest brother who came into our lives after an adoptive reunion, a year and a half ago. I wondered how he would have been affected if he had been raised in our home as the oldest verses being the youngest in his childhood home. I am studying how birth order affects ones personality in the midst of many other variables. |

Challenge: | Health | Category: | Junior | Region: | Bluewater | City: | Ayton, ON | School: | Immaculate Conception | Abstract: | This project examined the personality traits of siblings in relation to their birth order. The following categories were examined and compared: only, oldest, middle, and youngest child. Over 500 surveys were conducted, analyzed, and cross-referenced with current research. The survey results and the research supported a reoccurring resemblance between the groups, proving that birth order plays a role in shaping the personality of an individual. |
