Challenge: | Innovation | Category: | Junior | Region: | | City: | , | School: | | Abstract: | This project examined the potential of utilizing the OmniChrome Forensic Light Source (FLS) at fire scenes to accurately determine the presence of an accelerant. FLSs are not currently used at fire scenes. Three accelerants were tested on 19 different types of flooring. The combusted flooring samples were examined using three different wavelengths of light. It was concluded that FLS’s effectively fluoresced the petroleum-based accelerants. |
