My name is Brandan Ranjith, and this is my first year at the Canada Wide Science Fair. I am currently living in Belleville Ontario, and attend Albert College. My favourite subject in school definitely includes science, although I also really enjoy the arts. As a hobby, I love to play the flute in local competitions and in our school band, and also taking pictures! Sports haven't always been my favourite thing in the world, but I could play a game of badminton, squash, or volleyball any day! I got the inspiration for this project during the British Petroleum Oil Spill in 2010. I completed another Science Fair experiment closer to the date of the spill, but this project expands greater on a different aspect of the topic. If I was to give someone advice about doing a project, it would be to start as soon as possible because time is sensitive! For a further investigation to my project on how oil affects the oxygen production and growth rates of aquatic plants, I am interested to see how different the results would be if the plants I tested were directly in contact with oil, rather than just inundating the water's surface. |
