| Derek Hood Glowing Galore
Division: | International | Category: | Junior | Region: | Kiwanis Southeast Alberta | City: | Medicine Hat, MB | School: | Seven Persons School | Abstract: | This project studied the effects of three wavelengths or frequencies of visible light on a phosphorescent material. Monochromic LED's were used in a 'home designed environment' and the re-emitted light measured. Only the blue light was found to have enough energy in the photons to excite the electrons in the phosphor to reach the excitation/meta-stable state and allow the object to glow-in-the dark. |
