Abstract:Eating chocolate actually inhibits the growth of cariogenic bacteria within the mouth. This was one of many conclusions made during this experiment, which was designed to investigate the differences in bacterial growth in the mouth after ingestion of varying food products: chocolate, cheese, yogurt, hard candy and dark chocolate. In addition, a variety of toothpaste types were tested for effectiveness.
