Biography
Kaytlyn Barber is a grade 12 student at Lumsden High School in Lumsden, Saskatchewan. She attended South Shore Elementary School for her kindergarten to grade eight education. Kaytlyn currently resides in Regina Beach, Saskatchewan. She has received various academic awards including: the General Proficiency award, for highest overall academic average, in grade 9, 10, and 11, the Science award in grade 9 and 10 and the Biology 20 award in grade 11. She entered the Advanced Placement Environmental Science Program at Lumsden High School in grade 10. She has completed AP Science 10, AP Biology 20, and Biology 30. In grade 11 she wrote the College Board Advanced Placement Environmental Science exam and received a five (the highest possible mark). In her spare time Kaytlyn enjoys spending time with family and friends, boating, snowmobiling, snowboarding, running, swimming and working various part-time jobs. Kaytlyn is the current president of the Lumsden High School Student Representative Council and is extremely involved in both her school and community. After completion of grade 12 Kaytlyn plans to study education at the University of Regina.

Abstract:At Lumsden High School, students have created a successful renaturalization project. Other surrounding schools have unsuccessfully attempted similar projects. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the factors contributing to student success in establishing native prairie on disturbed land. A survey was conducted and results analyzed to identify factors having the greatest effect on developing a positive environmental attitude in students.
