Biographie
My name is Alexandra Harrington. I am in Grade 11 and attend The Fernie Academy. I enjoy many activities including competitive Figure Skating, Swimming and Volleyball. In addition to sporting activities, I am an active member of the Girl Guides of Canada and enjoy traveling. In July of 2018 I travelled to Tanzania, in July of 2019 I will be traveling to Kenya and the summer of 2020, travelling to India. The inspiration for this project came from my involvement on the Sparwood Fire Department. I am a Junior Firefighter and during a training event, thermal imaging was discussed. My goal was to investigate different thermal imaging technologies that fellow fire fighters would want to use, and that would help them be more efficient while on a fire scene. My goal is also to have something that is easy to use, and affordable for all departments. I would tell other students that when you are thinking about a project, you want to start by thinking about what you like to do, and see if you can make a cool project based off of your interests. By making the project of your interest, it will be more enjoyable to do.

Safety Under Fire
Défi:Innovation
Catégorie:Sénior
Région:East Kootenay
Ville:Sparwood, BC
École:The Fernie Academy
Sommaire:With the presence of dangerous temperatures in firefighting today, it is critical that all departments no matter size or budget have access to safety technology to prevent injury. This innovation presents a low cost, simple to use and effective tool for firefighters to know when the atmosphere they are in is too dangerous for interior attack and must exit the structure for their safety.
