Biography
My name is Caroline Mahut and I am 16 years old. I was born February 1st 1999 in Burlington, Ontario. I am a Grade 10 student in the French Immersion Program at M.M. Robinson High School. As I have a polish heritage, I am fluent in the Polish language as well as French and English. My favourite hobbies include reading, playing piano and cross country running. I am also a member of the Polish girl guides and attend Polish language classes. I am officially a lifeguard as I have recently finished the NLS lifeguarding course. My project inspiration came from my great grandfather and my great uncle who were both very active in the aircraft industry. They inspired me to create an innovative aircraft design that could benefit Canadian transportation. If you are considering doing a science project it is best to start with an exciting topic that really interests you and keep exploring new ideas that improve it.

Abstract:Based on my earlier work on ground effect wing shapes, I built a working model of a ground effect aircraft. The innovative design included two fuselages and a single central wing. I developed an original test rig that I used to observe take off velocity and flight time. I then compared commuting cost, living cost and commute time for four alternative commute routes to Toronto.
