Biography
My name is Jennifer Noorenberghe. I am 13 years old and in grade 7. I live in a rural area, which was part of the inspiration for this year's science fair project. I enjoy many sports, including badminton and tennis. My favorite sports are baseball and volleyball. I play travel baseball and provincial league volleyball. I would like to coach these sports in the future. Music is another one of my interests. Next month I hope to successfully complete my grade five piano exam. Currently, I am in several 4-H clubs, including scrapbooking, photography and nature preservation clubs. I like to travel and I am really looking forward to joining the Ceilidh and exploring Nova Scotia.

Abstract:This project investigates the transmission of bacteria from home to classroom via children’s backpacks. I further differentiated between rural and urban settings. After incubating and identifying the bacteria, I discovered rural settings produce more colonies, though there were a variety of bacteria coming from each. As a continuum, I studied backpacks from the same setting to determine the method that best inhibits bacterial growth.
