Biographie
My name is Lucas Brenninkmeijer and I am currently a grade seven student at Oakville Christian School. I enjoy team-building video games, reading adventure books, playing hockey with my three brothers, and sailing with my friends. Last September I watched a video about a young lady who kept her cell phone in her bra for the last 5 years and now has terminal breast cancer that began in that exact spot. Her doctor questioned the correlation between cell phones and cancer as this was his second young female patient with this story. This inspired me to develop a science fair project focusing on cell phones’ Electro Magnetic Radiation (EMRs) and its impact on living organisms, such as onion and mustard seeds. Further investigations will center around using non-ionizing species, such as tadpoles, and the difference in impact various EMR devices have on them. One piece of advice I would offer other potential science fair projecteers is to choose a topic you are passionate about. This will keep you inspired and forward thinking the entire time. This is my first time attending CWSF and I am looking forward to this experience.

Do Cell Phones Inhibit Growth?
Défi:Santé
Catégorie:Junior
Région:Bay Area
Ville:Oakville, ON
École:Oakville Christian School
Sommaire:The purpose of this experiment “ Do Cell Phones Inhibit Growth?” is to determine if Electro Magnetic Radiation (EMR) is harmful to mustard and onion seeds. To conduct this experiment I grew two sets of seeds, one with a cell phone in the middle and the other without. Keeping other variables constant, height, density and water usage were observed. Results proved EMR is potentially harmful.
