| I am a grade 7 french immersion student at New Glasgow Academy in Nova Scotia. One of my biggest passions is music and I love school. I have been singing and playing instruments since I was young. I participate in music festivals and exams every year, which I think has helped me a lot with developing good presentation skills for my science fair project. I also love to play soccer and have been a member of our regional competitive team for the last few years. I chose plant grafting as my topic for my school science fair project because of my interest in our family garden and fruit trees. The invitation to Nationals has allowed me to learn so much more about my topic. I find plant grafting fascinating, this spring I may even try to graft some of the apple trees in our yard! Being in the science fair gave me a reason to learn so much more than I would in school and meet lots of interesting people. I am very excited that I have come this far! I know it will be a great experience and I encourage other students to try it out! |

While conducting my research I learned how grafting occurs at a cellular level and why grafting is essential to the apple industry in the Maritime provinces. |
