My name is Vidhi Desai and I am currently a grade 12 student at Westwood Community High School. This is my first time at the Canada Wide Science Fair and I am honored that I was given the opportunity to attend. My hobbies include reading, listening to music, and I have taken classes in classical Indian dancing. In my spare time I enjoy volunteering and I have been involved with the Mayor’s Advisory Council on Youth, MACOY, and the regional hospital. I am also a mentor through the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood Buffalo. During the summer of 2013, I was involved with a program known as the Heritage Youth Researcher Summer Program, HYRS, where I worked at a research lab in the University of Alberta for six weeks. This was where I was inspired to conduct a research project on H. pylori. In the future, I want to conduct similar projects in other communities so that I am able to compare the analyses and have conclusive results. My advice to students that are thinking about doing a project is that they should pick a subject that they are passionate about, everything else will fall into place after that. |
