Mackenzie - I am a 15 year old, grade 10 student at Smiths Falls District Collegiate Institute (SFDCI), in Smiths Falls, Ontario. I enjoy participating in sports such as soccer and basketball, both in school and competitively. As part of the extended French program since grade 5, I recently had the opportunity to travel to Quebec on an exchange with my class. During the year I enjoy volunteering with different teams and sports tournaments, doing a variety of jobs. With my family we like to go on camping trips, as well as hiking, swimming and kayaking in the summer. In the future I am heading towards the direction of physiotherapy or kinesiology; something that will enable me to work with athletes. This is my first experience with science fair outside of school and I am looking forward to it. | Kathleen - I am 15 years old and in grade 10 at Smiths Falls District Collegiate Institute (SFDCI) in Smiths Falls, Ontario. On my spare time I enjoy running, swimming, reading and art. I enjoy science, art, English and French. I am a part of the Extended French program at SFDCI and have been in French Immersion since grade 5.This year I also participated in an exchange trip to St. Raymond in Quebec. In the future I am planning on going to Guelph University to get my Bachelor of Science and take Veterinary Medicine. In the summer I enjoy being outdoors, swimming, camping, kayaking, hiking and dirt biking. This is my first time attending the Canada-Wide Science Fair and was my second time attending the Regional Science Fair. For a while I have been very interested in environmental science as well as preserving and protecting the environment. |

To study this, four common dish soaps were tested on green bean plants. The project identifies the product and any individual chemicals that have a harmful effect on the environment when put into the water supply and water systems. |
