Biographies
Rizky - I'm an exchange student from Indonesia (rotary youth exchange program). I like to play golf and do some welding stuff. My host mother asked me to help one of her client be able to golf again. He was injured from an accident 4 years ago which caused him to have balance issue. My host sister and I had to design and develop a stand that would allow him to golf on standing and catch him if he fell. we plan to modify the stand to make it more portable and independent to use. being able to help someone return for the first time in 4 years to be able to do something they have been really missing has been very rewarding. As such a device does not exist we plan to patent the stand after final modification.my advice for the other student thinking about doing a project is try something new.
Kendra - I am a grade 10 student at St. Patrick's Catholic Secondary School. I enjoy reading, playing the piano, traveling and attending school. I have received the Ontario Service Volunteer Award from the Brain Injury Association. My mother ask my host brother and I to help solve a problem of one of her clients. He suffers a balance impairment due to an accident 4 years ago and has been unable to return to his favourite love, playing golf since. We designed and built a stand that would allow him to golf in standing but prevent him from falling when he swung. Such a device does not currently exist. We plan to complete a few more modifications and then patent our design. The advice I would give other students thinking about doing a project, is to do something that interests you or makes a difference in the world or to someone. It is very satisfying to see that what you have done have a positive impact on someone's life. Though I am only in grade 10 and have still time to decide what I will be come, I would like to be physician, professor or engineer.

Abstract:This innovative project was designed and built to address a gap in the industry to reduce the effects of disabilities.
