Biography
Hi, my name is Johnathan. I live in Arviat , NU. I am a grade 7 student at the Qitiliq Middle School. I enjoy fishing and I'm also into gardening and geology. I came up with the idea Seasoil for my project because I enjoy gardening, but the price of soil in the north is very expensive. I want to create soils from seaweed and other organic materials found in the north to help make growing plants easier and less expensive.

Abstract:Buying garden soil is expensive. My project is about creating soil with natural items found in the arctic. Can I create a soil using only biological materials available in the north to sustainably grow food? Seven different soil types were created to test which one would grow plants the best. The results showed that seaweed/goose feces/potting soil grew the best zucchini, radishes and carrots.
