My name is Maya Mikutra-Cencora. I am sixteen and have always been very interested in science, as well as in math. I have participated in many different math and science competitions. Among these, in 5th grade I was 1st in Quebec in the AQJM math contest and went to the international final in Paris, where I won 20th place in the world. I also participate in Optimaths and the University of Waterloo contests regurlary. This year, I participated in the Michael Smith Science Contest, where I was in the top 3% in Canada. I also enjoy languages and writing, and I have won numerous writing contests in English and French, as well as being 2nd in Canada in a Latin Contest this year. At the same time, I volunteer every week with children with mental disabilities at an organisation called WIAIH, and I am a member of my school's soccer team. I play piano, ukulele, and I am now learning to play the violin. I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to do all of these things and to go to a school with 35 great classmates who have chosen me as their co-president for the third year. |
