| My name is Antonia Tannert von Baer. I am 13 years old and am in grade 7 at Westside Academy in Prince George, BC. I love playing soccer with my friends and during my spare time, I like to read or do crafts. I have two siblings, Kristina and Sebastian; and ever since we moved to Prince George about three years ago we have a dog named Jasper and a horse named Lacey. During the summer, we like to go to lakes, to swim and kayak. I was inspired to do my project when during one of these trips; the lake had much algae. I began to wonder about what influences the algae to grow so plentifully, and what impact on the environment it had. After completing my project, more questions arose and I plan to research the reusable environment-friendly energy algae can provide. I think students should follow their curiosities while conducting projects and not let obstacles and mistakes make them quit. |

Algae-Mania: Fun with Green Scum

This project is relevant because it shows that we should limit the amounts of fertilizer that go into our lakes. |
