Biographie
Hi my name is William Campbell and I am from Arviat, Nunavut and have lived here for fourteen years. I enjoy sports, playing video games and watching the occasional polar bear walk by from the safety of my house. The reason why I chose to do this project on the Cold Air Trap (CAT) was the fact that heating costs in the north are very expensive, especially during the winters. I wanted to try and fix this problem by incorporating the Inuit design of an igloo cold air trap and use that technology in modern day building designs. to try and minimize fuel prices. My advice for others would be to choose a project that you really enjoy studying and learning about because it is a lot of work.

The CAT (Cold Air Trap)
Défi:Innovation
Catégorie:Intermédiaire
Région:Kivalliq
Ville:Arviat, NU
École:John Arnalukjuak High School
Sommaire:A simple change in the architectural design in northern homes can save building owners a lot of money from heating costs. Using an Inuit design of an iglu colds air trap (CAT), I found out that as the depth of CAT increased, the more it prevented cold air from entering the main living quarters and the lower the furnace times, reducing overall fuel costs.
