Biography
I am a very involved student, I participate in every activity possible- from sports teams to performances to volunteering. I compete in a few team sports, however my main sport is competitive showjumping with my horse (who was also the inspiration for my project). I have been doing science fair since the third grade and what I have learned is that in order to be truly successful, it is best to do a project on a topic that is of interest to you!

Abstract:An innovation of a method using fMRI in sourcing pain focus in animals. In humans, scientists have mapped the somatosensory cortex in great depth, and are beginning to analyze the appearance of pain on fMRI. Using techniques such as periodic tactile stimulation and exposure to noxious heat on animals, the origins of pain may be detected based on where they end up in the brain.
