Biography
My name is Kees Carriere. I am from La Ronge Saskatchewan. I am 15 years old and I am finishing up Grade 10. I am part of the track and cross country running teams at my school. I am also in my local skiing team and I am a sergeant at 889 Osprey Cadet squadron. I work my main job at the Lake Country Co-op in La Ronge, and during the winter I help coach skiing with Jackrabbits and GDCS . I like to run, ski, shoot, paddle, read, bike, and hike. After high school I plan on going to university to study biology, and I also plan to join the reserves. I got inspired to do my project after my pumpkin plant got infected with powdery mildew last summer. Maybe if I have time in grade 11 or 12 I will continue to flesh out my current project. Hopefully also I will be able to do a project on different ways to improve cardiovascular training. My main advice to other students who plan on doing projects for the any science fair is to plan ahead (what will I need?, How long will it take?, etc.). I didn`t do that.

Abstract:With my project I compared the effectiveness of two different treatments (Trichoderma Harzianum and Sulphur) for powdery mildew in cucumbers. I think my project is interesting because it is part of a huge effort to combat powdery mildew. My project is important because powdery mildew can have devastating effects on agricultural operations.
