| Saving the Planet One Wetland at a Time
Challenge: | Environment | Category: | Junior | Region: | | City: | , | School: | | Abstract: | This project examined the impact of wetland filtration using brine shrimp as an indicator species. Sixty-four experiments were meticulously conducted to quantitatively examine the efficiency and effectiveness of a wetland model at filtering out the following pollutants: oil, vinegar, fertilizer and detergent. Mortality rate, pH, filtering times, and volume were all measured. Wetland filtration dramatically improved the survival rate of brine shrimp. |
