Biography
My name is Michael Jones and I live in Midland, Ontario. I attend Sacred Heart Catholic School as a grade 7 student. Some of my extra-curricular activities include Curling, Vocal lessons, and 4-H Clubs. I plan to go to university to obtain a Masters degree in some kind of science field. I love doing science projects every year because they're fun, I learn lots and get to meet new people in the process. Through the 1st 4-H Canada Science Fair, I am now attending the CWSF for the first time. My inspiration came from The Innovative Farmers of Ontario (or IFAO). They held a competition, telling farmers to bury underwear in their fields to see who would have the most biologically active field. I plan to redo this project next year, but bigger. I would like to get a mentor and possibly gain access to a lab and fields dedicated to research. My advice to other students is: If you have an idea, go for it. You never know what might happen.

Challenge:Resources
Category:Junior
Region:4-H Canada
City:Midland, ON
School:Sacred Heart E.S.
Abstract:For my project, I used 100% cotton men's briefs to test microbiology levels in different fields. I also conducted two other secondary tests to see what the soil types the fields were and to see how much physical decomposing matter was contained in the soil. I concluded that a field that is long-term no-till was the most biologically active.
