Biographie
My name is Barbera Kadjuk, I am 16 years old and I am in grade 11 at Victor Sammurtok School in Chesterfield Inlet, Nunavut. I am of Inuit ancestry and a beneficiary under the Nunavut Land Claims agreement. I have lived in Chesterfield Inlet all of my life, and our community is composed of approximately 300 people, 95% of whom are also of Inuit ancestry. Chesterfield Inlet is located on the west coast of Hudson Bay, and is situated perfectly for all types of hunting on land and water. I am very proud of my Inuit heritage, and my project is a direct reflection of Inuit culture and traditional foods.

Maktaaq — Warming Mind and Body
Défi:Santé
Catégorie:Sénior
Région:Kivalliq
Ville:Chesterfield Inlet, NU
École:Victor Sammurtok
Sommaire:Inuit have survive in the arctic for as long as we can remember - we have survived by using the limited resources we have wisely and efficiently. Maktaaq (Beluga whale skin) is a country food that has been known to make people warm and sweat when they eat it. I want to prove using western scientific protocols what Inuit have known for centuries.
