Biographie
Hi my name is Owen Burke and I am a grade 7 French Immersion student at Malcolm Munroe Middle School. I love to play hockey and I play defence, and that is where I got my inspiration for this project! When I play defence in hockey, I have to go into the corner to get the puck sometimes, and when I do, I have to check behind me for other players. One day I was thinking, "what is that called when you see things out of the corner of your eye?" So I di some research and I found out it was called "Peripheral Vision". Then I thought "Do higher level athletes have better peripheral vision than lower level athletes?" Thats how I thought of my project! I also play golf, lacrosse, and soccer. I also have played the piano for 8 years and I also play the saxophone.

Défi:Santé
Catégorie:Junior
Région:Cape Breton
Ville:Sydney, NS
École:Malcolm Munroe Memorial Jr High School
Sommaire:This project determined if high-level athletes had better peripheral vision compared to low-level recreational athletes. A test was designed to collect 18 data points for each of the 50 participants. This data was used to analyze eye strength, eye balance and overall peripheral vision. Results showed that high-level athletes have better overall eye balance and have an overall vision in the far peripheral vision range.
