Achieving the Best Possible Lettuce Growth in a Cold Water Recirculating Aquaponics System
Division:Biotechnology
Category:Intermediate
Region:Central Alberta
City:Innisfail, AB
School:Innisfail Junior Senior High School
Abstract:In aquaponics the macronutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) and micronutrients (boron, copper, iron, etc.) plants use come from fish food. The results of three experiments indicate the limiting factor for plant growth in an aquaponics system is probably a micronutrient. This has implications for commercialization of aquaponics compared to hydroponics.
