Biography
My name is Hayden Geary. I am a 13 year old male who lives in a gold mining community in North-western Ontario. I have a 3 year old black lab & border collie named Bear. I love playing Bantam A and AA hockey. I also play on a summer hockey league that travels throughout the USA. I enjoy competitive school soccer, volleyball and basketball too. Every summer I work at my dad’s tourist camp as a dock hand and fishing guide. I fix boat motors, radios and depth finders. Ideas for my Science project originate from my dad’s remote camp. I wanted to find environmentally friendly ways to help him reduce the gas he uses for his generator so I thought of the idea of creating home made solar cells. My advice for anyone wishing to create solar cells is to never give up. I had numerous trails to make sure my cells produced energy. My perseverance definitely helped me understand how Scientists must keep trying to find cures for us, no matter how long it takes. At this time I would like a career in Science-either Engineering or Mechanical.

Abstract:Current hydroelectricity costs demand we address new environmentally friendly power sources. My project is an innovative way to approach solar power in remote and isolated areas using solar cells that can be placed into solar panels. Barriers are removed because I've addressed cost and skill level needed in building these solar cells. Regardless of the geographical location, accessibility to dependable power should be non-negotiable.
