Biography
My name is Louisa Matheson, I am a grade 8 student at Huron Heights Public School in Kincardine, a small town in Midwestern Ontario. I chose to do my science fair project on natural remedies. Natural remedies have for many years fascinated me, and made me wonder if natural remedies are effective or do they just demonstrate a placebo effect? That also brings up the question of if they do work, what else could they be utilized for? Just a few of my personal interests are figure skating, soccer, horseback riding and school sports. In addition I am also very interested in music. I am involved in a jazz band and concert band at my school playing multiple instruments. My advice to someone doing a science fair project would be, find a topic that really interests you. If you don't have a passion for the project you will never actually want to continually learn about it. I personally am very interested in my project and I intend to continue to develop and expand my experiment into the following years. Finally, I enjoy learning about new things and I am ecstatic for the journey of the science fair that lies ahead.

Abstract:This investigation employed standardized antibiotic susceptibility testing, substituting natural remedies for antibiotics. Over 216 trials were conducted and the results were compared to those achieved using standard antibiotics. A mixture of specific natural remedies achieved the overall greatest inhibition rate. It was confidently concluded that natural remedies could be the ultimate solution to global problems resulting from the over-usage of antibiotics and harmful cleaning products.
