| Yale Michaels A Potential New Approach to Chemotherapy in Brain Cancer: Disruption of Connexion 43 Particle Arrang
Division: | Life Sciences | Category: | Intermediate | Region: | Winnipeg Schools | City: | Winnipeg, MB | School: | Grant Park High | Abstract: | Malignant Glioma is the most common human brain tumour with an average 15 month survival. This poor prognosis can be attributed to the ineffectiveness of adjuvant therapies, such as radiation and chemotherapy. My research focused on the importance of gap junction intercellular communication (GJIC) on cell death induced by chemotherapy in malignant glioma. I found that inhibiting GJIC improved cell killing by Temozolomide chemotherapy. |
