Abstract:This project studied olive oil as an environmentally friendly way to control mosquitoes in rain barrels and reduce the risk of West Nile Virus. Olive oil was found to be effective in causing mosquito larvae mortality when injected at a volume of 3 ml per 100cm2 of water surface area. The olive oil treated water was also proven not harmful to seeds or plants.
