Biography
I am a Grade 8 student at Aberarder Central Public School. I enjoy reading, playing the piano, programming and attending school. I was trying to think of a unique idea for a science project that allowed me to use my computer, and how I could make a difference in the world. After learning how to use a 3D printer at my local library and also learning how cost-effective a 3D printer's plastic was, I came up with the idea to create 3D printed glasses frames for 3rd world countries. There are a few other companies with this general idea, but they make the glasses frames in factories and ship them to the 3rd world countries, while I plan to put 3D printers and the materials needed to print frames in the villages, and teach them how to use the printers, so that they can become self-sufficient in making their own glasses frames. The advice I would give other students thinking about doing a project is to do something that both you and those you interact with will enjoy. I may only be in Grade 8, but I hope to get into the University of Waterloo and become a software engineer.

Abstract:I used a 3D printer to make glasses frames for people who needed them in 3rd world countries. The material that the 3D printer used costed little, and it wasn't damaging to the environment. Using this material, I can make a file that people in 3rd world countries can be taught to use, so that they can become self sufficient and make themselves glasses frames.
