Biographies
Allie - I am a grade 12 student at Richmond Education Center and Academy who intends to pursue a career in forensic law. Im enrolled at Mount Allison University for a bachelor of science. I enjoy play playing volleyball and reading. The inspiration for this project came from a desire to help improve current health condition and trying to educate myself on the future effects of today's actions. I hope to one day expand on this project during my university career, perhaps as a thesis. My advice to other students that wish to pursue a project like this it to first accept and work within your limitations, and to realize that your going to run into problems, so its better to stick your heels in and work through it then to just give up.
Brenna - I am currently a grade 12 student at Richmond Academy who will be attending Saint Francis Xavier University in the fall. This year I am also the president of the Interact Club at my school. We as a committee do a lot to help different causes globally and locally. Helping others has always been something I enjoyed doing which is what led me to this science fair project. Me and my partner Allie wanted to come up with a way to help people realize and understand the negative effects sugar additives are having on our bodies. After finishing this project it was clear to see that there is a lot more work that can still be done to further our investigations, such as expanding on new sugar additives or simply looking more in depth into how sugar might be altered as it comes in contact with strains of e-coli. Some advice I have for other students thinking about doing a project is to have patience and dedication. Science isn't meant to be easy, it is meant to challenge you. Hard work will always pay off in the end you just need to stay motivated and never give up.

Sommaire:The effect of glucose and stevia consumption on the overall lifespan of multiple generations of the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) was investigated. A significant reduction in lifspan was shown (26%; p= 0.003) between the control and the two treatment groups. However, there was no difference in lifspan between glucose (2%) and stevia (2%) treatment groups.
