Biography
Tobias Commanda-Odjick is a proud Algonquin from the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg Nation located 2 hours north of Ottawa. Tobias is currently in secondary 5 at the Kitigan Zibi Kikinamadinan where he will be graduating in June of 2017. Tobias is best known for his passion for sports in his community, and will be representing the Eastern Door and the North at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship in British Columbia in May 2017. Tobias has always maintained excellence in sports and academics and is planning on attending Algonquin College for the Fall semester in the Police Foundations program. Tobias leads by example and strongly believes in the preservation of his culture and language, this is where he drew inspiration for his science project. Tobias has gained the skills, knowledge and teachings from elders in his community to create and use traditional Algonquin methods of healing that have stood the test of time. Tobias believes in his words "If you work hard, amazing opportunities will happen".

Abstract:"Compound W" Wiijina & Warts is a project that uses the dried castoreum "wiijina" to eliminate a common & planters wart. The Algonquin people have relied on their traditional medicinal teachings for centuries to sustain our way of living. I'm and excited i have an opportunity to revive these teachings and implement them today.
