My name is Noah, and I am in grade eight at Bruce Middle School in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Besides competing in science fairs, I love participating in sports. I swim, run marathons, curl, and play hockey and baseball. However, baseball is my favourite sport. Some interests of mine include camping, reading, geocaching, and hanging out with friends and family. I like helping my community by volunteering, and participating in events like We Day. I do well in school, have earned a few academic awards, and love English and Science. I am going into high school next year and am looking forward to taking Aviation at Sturgeon Heights. I have competed in science fairs since the third grade, but since grade five, my focus has been on physics and how it relates to the sports of football, baseball, and curling. This is a perfect inspiration for me since I love both science and sports. I'd still like to find out if bats made of materials such as aluminum or composite, rather than wood, would have different sweet spots. Finally, my advice to future science festival participants would be to just do a project about what you're passionate about, and to enjoy it. |

I believed this point would be located at the end of the barrel, but found it was actually located 18.5 centimetres from this predicted spot. By applying my experiment to recognized theories, I eventually determined that physics supported my results. |
