Nathaniel 'aka Nate' Bilsky is a twelve-year-old grade seven French Immersion student at St. Stephen Middle School in the Southern New Brunswick town of St. Stephen where he enjoys playing on basketball, soccer and volleyball teams. He is also active in cross-country running; swim team, wrestling, chess club, math team, drama, and Bobcat TV; as well as Beyond the Hurt and WeDay activities! When not engaged in these activities Nate enjoys volunteering at the local food bank and running his lawn care/snow removal business. His most immediate goal is to raise/earn enough money to pay for a travel club trip to Italy and his future goals include becoming an aeronautical engineer. My inspiration for the ‘Folding House’ project came from hearing about the Syrian refugee crisis during the Canadian election coverage; it matched my goal of doing a project that met a real-world need and worked well with my interests in engineering. I would love to see my invention patented, marketed and distributed in regions of need. My advice to other students would be to choose projects of interest to you that address a real concern, to plan ahead, to do lots of research and to be animated when presenting. |
