Hello, my name is Ahnais Young. I am 13 years old and live in Cornwall, P.E.I. I am in grade 8 at East Wiltshire School where I play percussion and trumpet in the grade 8 band and the jazz band respectively. I began dancing at age 3 and compete in step, tap and highland. I enjoy step, tap, ballet and pointe but would like to begin jazz and contemporary. In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing my drums or piano, watching movies or cuddling with my cat, Zoey. I have been in Provincial Science Fairs since grade four and have won many awards and specialty prizes. I have also been involved with Provincial Heritage Fairs since grade 5 and have been very successful winning awards, specialty prizes and being a finalist. The inspiration for my project was my grandfather who has been struggling with Alzheimer’s for over two years. In the future I wish to become a veterinarian. Further plans for my project could involve a larger group of participants or different daily tasks. The advice that I would give others is to choose a subject they enjoy, can learn from and that helps society in some way. |
| Ahnais Young Effects of Cognitive & Sensory Function on Progression of Alzheimer's Disease
Défi: | Santé | Catégorie: | Junior | Région: | Prince Edward Island | Ville: | Cornwall, PE | École: | East Wiltshire School | Sommaire: | I wondered if adding a cognitive skill would affect the sensorial outcome of participants through the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Participants performed daily tasks in three different functions: control, sensory, and sensory and cognitive. A cognitive test was performed before participants completed the tasks and functions. The objective was for the participants to understand the perspective of an Alzheimer’s patient while wearing sensory gear. |
