Biography
I am a grade 8 student in Summerland, BC. I am in the French immersion program at my school and I am looking forward to using my French in Quebec. I like to play basketball and I also enjoy longboarding. Some other hobbies I have are playing the Tenor Saxophone and the Clarinet. The project I did this year was on Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products. I received a bronze medal at CWSF2015 in Fredericton. I am planning on doing science fair again next year!

Filthy Water Cannot Be Washed: Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products
Challenge:Environment
Category:Junior
Region:Central Okanagan
City:Summerland, BC
School:Summerland Middle School
Abstract:I reviewed the evidence of pollution from pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs). I looked at which PPCPs were in water systems, how they were getting there, if their levels were increasing, and what information was being collected. I found evidence that medications and other products negatively impact animals and children, and that some have additive effects. There is no coordinated, long-term tracking of PPCPs.
