Biography
My name is Brianna Garvey and I am a grade seven student at Holy Family School. I am 12 years old and live on a farm near Hanover, ON. I enjoy playing many sports like basketball, volleyball, and football. I have been a member of the Hanover Figure Skating Club for 10 years and for the last three years I have been able to volunteer as a coach for the beginning skaters. I have participated in Bluewater Regional Science and Technology Fair achieving bronze in 2017, silver in 2018 and gold in 2019. This is my first year at the Canada Wide Science Fair. The inspiration for my project was from the media around the 2018 DON issue in Ontario corn. This issue impacted many farmers and was often a discussion at home. My plans for further investigation are to look at new emerging technologies related to managing DON. The advice I would give other students who want to participate in the Science Fair is to start early, have a plan and make sure it is a topic you enjoy!
